You held me in your arms,
You told me tales of life,
Of beauty, truth and love,
I'd never felt so safe.

We lived with passion and light,
Strove to fulfill all our dreams,
Our souls took wondrous flight
Where others fell with their fears.

But then one day you said:
"They are but dreams, all lies!
Stop being a child, don't pretend-
Life is different, realize!"

Here, where I cannot reach stars,
You brought me down, left alone,
Ceased to fly, to believe,
You had no more strength of your own.

I have to grow up, get strong,
Just not like you have done-
I want to, before long,
Take you on my wings to the sun!
